South Molton is an historic market town in North Devon, on the edge of Exmoor National Park. There has been a settlement here since at least 650 AD, when it was called Dumnania. St Mary Magdalene church in the centre of South Molton was built in the 15th century, on the site of at least two previous church buildings. The Museum offers a Heritage Trail, which visits the many buildings of historic interest in the town, including Medieval, Elizabethan and Georgian buildings.
